AmaZulu on Sunday announced that their talented striker Bonginkosi Ntuli has tragically passed away after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our beloved centre-forward and loyal servant, Bonginkosi Ntuli,” read a statement from AmaZulu.
“Ntuli was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, which metastasized and ultimately led to his death at the Midlands Medical Centre Private Hospital in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.
“May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. The club requests privacy and patience be granted his family and friends at this difficult time.”
Ntuli was just 32, and played for AmaZulu as recently as September 17, when he came on as a late substitute in AmaZulu’s 3-2 DStv Premiership win at home to Cape Town City.
AmaZulu trailed 2-1 when Ntuli entered the field and ended up winning courtesy of two goal from Sede Junior Dion.
Ntuli joined AmaZulu in 2018 and his best season came in the 2019/20 campaign, where he scored 13 DStv Premiership goals, finishing tied fourth in the scoring charts.
His top flight career started at Golden Arrows, while he also played briefly for Mamelodi Sundowns, before joining Platinum Stars.
