Amajita were well organised – Nigeria coach

The Nigerians piled pressure onto the South Africans from the early stages of the game, but some firm defending and very good goalkeeping from captain Khulekani Kubheka saw the sides share the spoils.

“We played against a very good team, well organised and they made it very difficult for us to break them down. We will take a point and look forward to the next game,” said Aigbogun.

Following the stalemate, Nigeria remained at the top of the group with four points after two games, followed by Niger on two points, level with Amajita but separated by goal difference while Burundi occupies the last spot with one point from the same number of games.

Amajita will now have to win their last group game against Burundi on Friday to reach the semi-finals, while Nigeria only needs a draw against Niger to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
