Amajita to take on Mali at Peter Mokaba stadium

Coach Thabo Senong believes the friendly match will help the team gain momentum before going to the tournament.

The South African national Under-20 team (Amajita) have secured two friendly matches with Mali as part of their preparations for the CAF U20 African Cup of Nations in Zambia next month.

The first game will be played behind closed on 16 February, with the official match to be three days later at the same venue.

Amajita coach Thabo Senong is delighted with the fixture and says it will help his team to gain momentum ahead of the tournament.

“We are very happy to have secured these matches and believe we will gain a lot of momentum with the friendlies against giants like Mali.

“We have two West African teams in our group, so these matches will assist us in addressing some strengths and weakness of the West Africans,” said Senong.

The team will also face hosts Zambia in another friendly match just before the competition starts.
