Amajita reach Cosafa Cup final

A solitary goal by Luvuyo Mkatshana in the 41st minute gave South Africa the win in a drama-filled match.

Amajita, who finished the match with 10 men as George Matlou received his marching orders for a second bookable offence, will play Lesotho in the final on Saturday. Lesotho beat Uganda 6-5 on penalties in the other semifinal match.

Amajita coach Thabo Senong is pleased with his team’s display against Egypt.

“Congratulations to the players for the outstanding performance they displayed today. We are proud of the entire team for their contribution to the tournament.

“It is now back to the drawing board as we wait to see who we will face in the final this coming Saturday,” said Senong.

South Africa’s starting XI: Sanele Tshabalala (GK); Sibusiso Mabiliso; Kamohelo Sambo; Kiyaam Bull; Keanu Cupido; Thabani Zuke; Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (Maswangayi 90 +) (c); George Matlou; Sifundo Sibiya; Luvuyo Mkatshana (Modise 71’); Katlego Ntsabeleng (Mbulu 79’)
