This comes after the Egyptian giants were handed a 5-0 drubbing by Sundowns in a Caf Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash in Pretoria this past weekend.
El-Khatib was not pleased with the score-line and asked to meet with the team captain and the club’s football director when the team arrived in Egypt from their trip to South Africa.
The furious president said an apology from the players and coach was not enough and they need to find a way for this not to happen again.
“Apology is not enough. The name of the club is in red line. And that’s the solution,” El-Khatib told the club’s website.
Al Ahly is known for firing coaches after losing by heavy scores.
