Ajax media officer Shooz Mekuto confirmed to Phakaaathi that Isaacs had been released, but refused to reveal the reasons behind his release.

“Yes, Erwin was released by the team, the reasons behind why that happened has nothing to do with anyone. Both parties decided to terminate the contract. We can’t comment on Erwin because he is no longer our player, he is a free agent now,” Mekuto told Phakaaathi.
When asked if Isaacs had stolen a pair of football boots, Mekuto had this to say before hanging up.
“Lekker, congratulations you are now a private investigator, you are wasting my time by asking these questions my friend.”
