Ajax Cape Town vs Cape Town City – our predictions
It was Khaya Ndubane who got the better of Jonty Mark in successfully predicting Bidvest Wits’ win over Orlando Pirates last weekend.

This time, the two go head-to-head again as they cast their verdict on the winner of Saturday’s Cape derby between Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium.
Why Ajax will win (Jonty Mark, Phakaaathi Editor)
Cape Town City are the favourites to win Saturday’s Mother City derby, but here’s the thing – in derbies, so often, you may as well take the form book, rip it up into little pieces and chuck it into your nearest recycling bin. Ajax Cape Town were beaten twice by City in the league last season, and that must be burning a fire under the Urban Warriors players that will make them all-the-more hungry for victory at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday. Benni Mcarthy’s City may have a better squad on paper than Ajax, but I expect the Ajax players’ desire on the day to bridge that gap. The Urban Warriors have also improved of late under Stanley Menzo, coming into this game off the back of a decent draw at high-flying Baroka FC which followed on from their first win of the season at home to Polokwane City. Cape Town City beat Polokwane City in their last match, but it took a late surge for them to do so, and they have lost a little of their early season mojo. It should be a fiery affair, and I expect Ajax to come out on top, by the odd goal.
Prediction: Ajax 1 City 0
Why City will win (Khaya Ndubane, Online Content Manager)
Jonty is right when he says that City are favourites going into this match. After all, they registered a double over Ajax, winning 1-0 in the first round before giving them a 2-0 drubbing in the return match. I see City continuing their dominance over their Mother City rivals today. After a minor setback of losing back-to-back matches against City registered a morale boosting win over Polokwane City and they’ll be looking to continue that winning streak. Granted, derbies are hard to predict as Jonty has already alluded to in his reasoning for Ajax win, this one is easy to predict because so far Ajax have been no match for City. Stanley Menzo’s team is has not only failed to beat City, Ajax are yet to score a goal against City and I don’t see them scoring again this afternoon. Hence I predict another easy win for Benni McCarthy’s side.
Prediction: Ajax 0 City 2
