Agent confirms offer for SuperSport United youngster

Manelisi Mazibuko’s agency has confirmed that SuperSport United are in talks with Gil Vincente over the player’s transfer to Portugal.

The 17-year-old Mazibuko was promoted to the Matsatsantsa a Pitori senior team at the beginning of the 2024/25 season and is yet to make his debut for the senior side.

But, according to Transfermarkt, Gil Vicente scouts were in South Africa for the No Limits Atlas Showcase, which took place at Balfour Park in December last year, and were impressed by Mazibuko.

Now Mazibuko’s agency, P Management Sports has confirmed that talks over a potential move to Portugal have begun between SuperSport and Gil Vicente.

“We are hoping that Gil Vincente and SuperSport United reach a transfer agreement soon. This will pave the way for Manelisi ‘Sugar’ Mazibuko’s dream of plying his trade in Europe. Manelisi turns 18 next month and will be eligible to sign a professional contract,” wrote the agency on X.

If the deal goes through, Mazibuko will be the latest youngster to move overseas from SuperSport after the club sold Shandre Campbell to Belgian outfit Club Brugge at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) is set to announce a new date for the game between SuperSport and Golden Arrows, which was abandoned due to a power outage at Lucas Moripe Stadium last Sunday.

The game was tied at 1-1 when the decision to stop the game was taken after 45 minutes. Kaizer Chiefs loanee Christian Saile opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute but his goal was cancelled out by Velemseni Ndwandwe in the 24th minute of the power-interrupted game.

Due to load shedding, the game was briefly halted after 22 minutes when the lights went off at the Tshwane venue. After resuming play to finish the first half, match officials decided to call off the game with visibility a concern in the Betway Premiership encounter.
