The script of the less popular Tshwane derby between Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United did not play out as the first episode where Sekhukhune grabbed a stoppage time winner a couple of weeks ago. This time around, the Pretoria sides played out to a goalless draw in the DStv Premiership.

The Ellis Park Stadium did not see much action in the opening half with both sides adopting a cagey approach. Both teams will need to go to the drawing board as they are struggling to strike the winning formula as their recent results have not gone their way.
In the 72nd minute, SuperSport welcomed the return of influential player Teboho Mokoena, who was one of the many Matsatsantsa A Pitori players who were affected by the current influx of Covid-19 cases. The 24-year-old did not take long to impose himself in the match as he took charge of matters in the midfield, stringing passes and dismantling Sekhukhune’s advances forward.
In what looked like a desperate attempt to get maximum points, Jamie Webber fired an ambitious strike from distance, trying his luck at Toaster Nsabata, who was up to the task even though the flight of the ball took a deflection on Webber’s teammate.
In the opposite direction, Vusimuzi Mncube also tried his luck from some distance, in his own half, looking to catch Boalefa Pule off guard as he was way out of his line. However, Pule was happy to watch the ball balloon over the bar in the 80th minute as both teams provided much better action in the second stanza in contrast to the first.
One can imagine how tough it was for the adjudicators to select a Man-of-the-Match as no player from either side had a bright spark, but in the end, SuperSport TV commentators and analysts gave the gong to Kegan Johannes.
MacDonald Makhubedu’s side are up against a struggling Chippa United side in their next appointment, while Matsatsantsa A Pitori are set to host Eric Tinkler’s frustrated Cape Town City side, who have only seen one victory in their last five games.
