Komphela impressed by Paez

Gustavo Paez’s four goals in 11 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs have silenced his critics.

Having joined Chiefs in the January transfer window, the Venezuelan striker’s clinical finish and off the ball runs have instead impressed many people including his coach Steve Komphela.

Komphela was impressed with the striker after giving him his second league start in the absence of Bernard Parker who was out on suspension during the team’s 1-0 win over Chippa United last weekend.

“Paez gave us everything we were looking for. I thought he would get tired, but he played until the end of the match,” the coach was quoted on the clubs website.

With Parker set to return to the team after serving his one-match suspension, it’s not clear at this stage if Paez will keep his position in the startinmgb line-up when Amakhosi take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals on Saturday.

The game is set to take place at FNB Stadium at 6pm.
