Isaacs praises Chiefs contingent in Bafana squad

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs has praised Itumeleng Khune, Eric Mathoho and Ramahlwe Mphahlele for taking part in the historic victory over Nigeria.

All three Chiefs players were in Stuart Baxter’s starting XI on Saturday night, with both Mphahlele and Khune providing assists for the two goals scored in the game.

“Khune showed his experience in goal, doing a fine job whenever he was required to come into action. He commanded his area very well.

“Rama was excellent, very solid defensively, while making threatening runs forward as well. Mphahlele’s cross for Rantie’s opening goal was class,” Issacs told Chiefs’ official website.

“Tower, meanwhile, formed a formidable combination at the heart of defence with Thulani Hlatshwayo. Mathoho played very well. Bafana’s overall performance was good; they were tactically very sound, and deserved the win.”
