Could Ntshangase be Chiefs’ saving grace?

Chiefs are said to be close to signing Leopards forward Siphelele Ntshangase.

Kaizer Chiefs have lined up a big signing to appease supporters who have continually voiced their dissatisfaction with the quality and standard of players the Glamour Boys have bought in the past few seasons.

“The name of the player is a closely guarded secret, but it is a big name player. The team knows that the supporters have been disgruntled and the numbers in the stands have dwindled a little over the years. This player will get them excited again,” said the source.

Although the name could not be established, Phakaaathi suspects it is Siphelele Ntshangase, who proved his class with admirable displays for Black Leopards during the promotion play-offs last month.

Meanwhile, Chiefs have confirmed a series of friendlies as part of the pre-season ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Amakhosi will go on a closed door camp between 9 July and 16 July.

They will then participate in a one-day four-team tournament, Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup, at Orkney’s James Motlatsi Stadium on July 15.

The Glamour Boys will lock horns at 12pm against Botswana’s Township Rollers. Preceding the Chiefs-Rollers match, Platinum Stars will face Free State Stars.

Chiefs will then go over the borders to play in a friendly against Township Rollers in Francistown on Saturday, July 22, at Francistown Stadium.

To wrap up pre-season, Carling Black Label Cup will take centre stage when Chiefs take on their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday, July 29.
