City to play ‘winning style of football’ under new coach
Cape Town City head coach Jan Olde Riekerink has dispelled speculation that the mother city club will adopt a defensive style of play under the mentorship of a European coach.

Riekerink is waiting patiently to lead his chargers on to the field after the international break. The 56-year-old took over the side after coach Benni McCarthy was sacked following a string of poor results.
The former Ajax Amsterdam development coach is confident he can turn the club’s fortunes around.
“We will play a winning style of football. The aim of the game is to win the game and I have to analyse the quality we have in the team. From my heart, I want to make as many goals as possible but I prefer to make one more than the opponent so the result could be better.
“So I think we want to see the team win and not struggling in the position we are now will do everything for that and I hope in an attractive way.”
