Chiefs’ Maluleka comments on reports linking him to Scottish giants

Kaizer Chiefs’ midfielder  George Maluleka has revealed that he hasn’t heard anything official regarding interest in his services by Scottish side, Rangers.

The reports started at the weekend and Maluleka admitted to having heard rumours about his pending departure from Amakhosi.

“I have been hearing rumours but to be honest I haven’t really heard anything (official),” Maluleka said on Thursday morning. “And if the club (Rangers) haven’t spoken to Kaizer Chiefs about it then there is no link at all. So, I know nothing about that and I have a contract at Kaizer Chiefs and I am here to honour that,” he added.

Asked what it means for him to even be rumoured to have attracted interest from an overseas side especially at his age, Maluleka revealed it had always been his dream. Maluleka is 30-years-old this year.

“Well, all the players work very hard and they work for a reason. So if there is a link it means I have been doing something right. I will always work hard regardless of anything (whether the move happens or not),” he said.

Maluleka also commented on Amakhosi being crowned Q1 winners and said it was a needed confidence booster that makes them hungry for more.

“It’s very important to start off on a good note and winning the Q1 is one of those. It’s a very good confidence booster and what it does is make the guys want even more because it puts you in a position whereby you have a chance of winning the league.

“You win Q1 and Q2 you are in an even better position, the boys want that and we have shown in Q1 and there is a big possibility for the second one. But we are not getting ahead of ourselves and we are taking it one game at a time and that process starts on Saturday against Celtic,” he said.

Amakhosi host Bloemfontein Celtic at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.
