The 19-year-old was solid at the back for Chiefs and even saved goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi from embarrassment on several occasions, clearing the ball off his line.
“He was not going to be on the field if I was not 100% convinced that he is prepared to do the job,” Middendorp told the club’s website.
“He is adaptable and he did a fantastic job for us. He played in the World Cup in Poland against Argentina. He was played in different positions. I see his development at training.
“We are still waiting for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo who’s recovering and Happy Mashiane is progressing well too,” Middendorp said. “These youngsters are important in our planning.”
