Amakhosi have opened a ten-point gap between themselves and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns having played 11 league games.
Celtic will meet Amakhosi in the first week of November at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban after the Glamour Boys face Maritzburg United in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout Cup.
Phalane is confident that Celtic can stop Chiefs from widening the gap in the league title chase as Sundowns look to retain their league title.
Chiefs beat Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in league games but the 29-year-old midfielder said his side wanted to shock Chiefs in Durban.
“Chiefs have stretched the gap and are on the right track towards winning the title,” Phalane told the Daily Sun.
“But they can come down. We can stop this moving train and show other teams that they can also beat them.
“I know that a lot of teams show them too much respect on the pitch, and this has to stop.”
