Coach Ernest Mtawali has set his sights on the title this year and has called up a strong squad with plenty of Cosafa Castle Cup experience.
Aside from Kamwendo and Nyirenda, he has also included South Africa-based Limbikani Mzava, Gerald Phiri and Gabadinho Mhango, as well as former PSL players John Banda, Chiukepo Msowoya and Peter Wadabwa.
It is a major statement of intent from Mtawali, who is hoping to steer Malawi to their first ever Cosafa Castle Cup crown.
They start their campaign in Group B with an opener against Angola (June 12), before they take on Mauritius (June 14) and Lesotho (June 16).
