Baxter to lay Bafana ground rules on Monday

The Scott, whose days are numbered as SuperSport United coach, as he is set for his second Bafana Bafana spell at the end of the season, has revealed that the South African Football Association will hold a press conference on Monday, where he will iron out his plans with the senior national team going forward, as his immediate mandate is expected to be qualifying the country for the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 edition in Cameroon.

“On Monday when I address the press about my hopes of Bafana, one of them will be that relationships between clubs and country must improve,” he said.

Meanwhile, SuperSport captain Dean Furman said he and his teammates had accepted the imminent departure of the 63-year-old mentor, although they would have preferred to have him continue with Matsatsantsa.

“The fact that the coach is going to Bafana is the best thing for Bafana. Hopefully, there is a lot of success ahead with the coach and the players that we have got at the moment at our disposal in South Africa,” said Furman.

He continued: “For us at SuperSport, we wish the coach well, we probably hoped that he would be staying … but for us, nothing has changed, he is here until the end of the season. We are fully focused on the job at hand and we want to finish as high as we can in the league, we want to win the Nedbank Cup and we want to progress in the Confederation Cup.”
