Akpeyi, Katsande poser for Chiefs coach ahead of Chippa clash

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has to take a tough decision to whether or not play Daniel Akpeyi and Willard Katsande in Wednesday’s match against Chippa United.

The duo are both on three yellow cards and if they play and receive yellow cards in the Chippa match, they will be suspended for Saturday’s Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.

Akpeyi has been on top form for Chiefs in recent months since taking over the number one jersey from the injured Itumeleng Khune. The Nigerian goalkeeper was the hero for Amakhosi during the penalty shootout victory over Orlando Pirates last weekend.

Katsande, who started the match during last Saturday’s derby, is the stand-in captain during Khune’s absence and has done well since reclaiming his spot in the team’s starting line-up.

Chiefs’ game against Chippa is set to take place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at 7.30pm.
