Makhubedu lambasted Amakhosi players for “not showing up” and came close to calling Amakhosi mediocre.

His post-match rant was dismissed by some as just sour grapes but hit a nerve with some who have always felt the Naturena-based team needs to sign some quality players.
“If this is the biggest team in the country, the national team (Bafana Bafana) are going to suffer. If this is the biggest team in the country, then don’t blame the national team coaches. If we can go down to 10 men in the opening minutes and still lead the game until the last minutes…
“Chiefs didn’t come to the party. We were one man down, inexperienced at the back. They are still a good team, a technical team, but I repeat it: if this is the biggest team in the country, the national team will suffer a lot,” said Makhubedu.
He added that he had hoped his boys would get some lessons from Amakhosi as they prepare for the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs, but was disappointed.
“I thought this game was going to prepare us for the playoffs, instead I’m disappointed because Kaizer Chiefs taught my boys nothing,” he said.
He also said he would not blame the referee although his decision to reduce Acornbush to 10-men in the 27th minute seemed a little harsh and there were some decisions which seemed in favour of the Glamour Boys.
“I’m not blaming the referee but one of my boys was just taken to hospital. He (referee) has kids and I respect him and I can’t say things about him on TV,” said Makhubedu.
