ABC Motsepe league in hot water

The South African Football Association (SAFA) fined Secunda Stars and FC Zone Mavu for assaulting match officials, while Benoni Premier United have been given a warning.

Several ABC Motsepe clubs appeared before the SAFA disciplinary committee and were sanctioned for a number of misdemeanours.

Other matters have been postponed to next month.

Secunda Stars and FC Zone Mavu were each fined R10 000 for their cases in which they assaulted match officials. Both fines are payable within 14 days and the two clubs were warned that a repeat of such a grave offence carries serious consequences.

In another matter, Benoni Premier United were given a warning but forfeited their match to Mlambo Royals after they failed to honour their fixture.

Matters involving Leruma FC, Mofolo Stars, FC Palmeros, Phiva Youngstars and Forek Academy FC were all postponed to 3 February 2017. The above mentioned teams are being charged for causing the abandonment of their respective fixtures.

Moretele Gunners who protested against FC Palmeros for fielding a red carded player and Tjakastad who failed to provide security during their home game, will also face the hearing on 3 February.

“We have upped our game when it comes to nipping any misconduct in the bud. We are not looking back. All those charged will face the mighty of the law,” said SAFA legal officer, Tebogo Motlanthe was quoted on the SAFA website.
