Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Richard Murray, who was fourth at last year’s Rio Olympics, secured his first top-flight podium finish of the season.
After taking fifth place in the series opener in Abu Dhabi last month, Murray grabbed second spot in the Gold Coast sprint race behind Spaniard Mario Mola, the defending series champion.
Murray completed the race in 52:35, crossing the line just four seconds behind Mola.
Further back, Olympic bronze medallist Henri Schoeman finished eighth and former world junior champion Wian Sullwald was ninth, with both athletes clocking 53:11.
Earlier, in the women’s race, Gillian Sanders took ninth position in 58:37.
Former Under-23 world champion Andrea Hewitt of New Zealand took the win in 58:03.
