SA SuperGP Championship: David will be right at home

The Western Cape Killarney circuit will host round two of this year’s South African SuperGP Championship on Saturday, with local riders set to challenge the current status quo with a vengeance.

Capetonian David McFadden (RPM Centre Kawasaki ZX10) bagged a second place in the SuperGP class during the opening round at Zwartkops last month.

He will be considered a victory favourite by the partisan Western Cape crowd. Out to stop him will be Michael White (Consortium Shipping Yamaha R1), Morne Geldenhuis (NCA Plant Hire Yamaha R1) and defending South African champion Clint Seller (King Price Extreme Yamaha R1), who has finished on the podium in three out of the last four SuperGP races at Killarney.

Dylan Barnard (Shop #74 Yamaha R1) and Darryn Upton (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR 1000) should also be in the mix. Another local, Hayden Jonas (Samurai Yamaha R6), will be one of the favourites in the Super600 category.

He will take on opening round winner Adolf Boshoff (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR600), Blaze Baker (King Price Extreme Yamaha R6), Byron Bester (Hi-Tech Kawasaki ZX6), Aiden Liebenberg (Fercor Construction Kawasaki ZX6), William Friend (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR600) and Ricardo Otto (ORT-Online Kawasaki ZX6).

Other Capetonians who could use their home track advantage will be Jarred Schultz (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR600), Brandon Staffen (AJH Cooling Kawasaki ZX6) and Gareth Gehlig (Formula Autos Kawasaki ZX6).

Kewyn Snyman (The Mag Workshop KTM RC390) dominated proceedings in the first round of the Super300 field, taking both race wins.

This weekend he will face riders like Western Cape lady Zante Otto (ORT-Online Yamaha R3), Dino Iozzo (King Price Extreme Honda), Taric van der Merwe (Evolve Nutrition Yamaha R3) plus the Uncle Andy Racing pair of Chase Hulscher and Tyreece Robert on their KTM RC390 entries.
