Ospreys hooker Scott Baldwin, on tour in Bloemfontein for the Pro14, thought he could pet a Lion like a house cat!

Earlier this week, Welsh side Ospreys announced their hooker Scott Baldwin would miss their Pro14 meeting with the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein with a hand injury.
What people didn’t know was how he sustained it.
Baldwin and his teammates had visited a Lion sanctuary, where he tried to pet one.
Rather predictably, the Lion bit his hand…

Ospreys coach Steve Tandy confirmed the bizarre (and utterly preventable) incident after his side’s 44-25 loss to the Cheetahs on Friday evening.
“It was pretty stupid on Scott’s behalf,” he said candidly.
The medical staff said in a statement: “Ospreys Rugby can confirm that Scott Baldwin sustained a hand injury on Wednesday. The team doctor treated a laceration, and subsequently he was admitted to a local hospital in Bloemfontein on Thursday evening for further treatment to prevent infection.”
