Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi made some waves at the weekend after an interview with a Japanese news outlet Kyodo News saw him air some interesting views on transformation.
The 27-year-old flanker stated that he believed the iconic Nelson Mandela, democratic South Africa’s first president, wouldn’t have supported a quota system.
Instead, Kolisi advocates the so-called grassroots approach, where kids in townships are exposed to the game and nurtured through the system.
He was on a promotional visit to the country.
