Exciting new Blitzbok star Ronald Brown is eager to build on a fantastic start to his career, as he heads into just his fourth World Sevens Series tournament in Dubai this weekend.
Brown was in brilliant form during the past weekend’s event, scoring five tries and kicking 17 conversions for a personal points tally of 59.
This included a blistering performance in the final, scoring a hat-trick and slotting five conversions in assisting the Blitzboks to an impressive 42-7 win over the USA, while he was also named as Player of the Match.

“It was a good feeling, but it’s never about the individual. It is more about the system,” admitted Brown.
“We never look at the outcome, but rather the effort and the game implementation. We were content with the way we performed in the final.
“At the start of the tournament we started off very slow and couldn’t get the flow we wanted. However, we addressed it and came back stronger.”
The first Dubai event was an impressive showing from the Blitzboks as they won their third World Series tournament on the bounce.

This after tournament victories in Vancouver and Edmonton in September saw the Blitzboks win a shortened 2020/21 World Series due to the Covid pandemic.
However, despite starting their title defence in the best possible manner last week, Brown claimed the SA team would not take any momentum into this weekend as they started from scratch after every tournament.
“As a team we are aware that we cannot take any of last weekend into the new week,” said Brown.
“We have to start all over again and it started with the first (training) session back on Monday morning. It is important to get back to 0% and start building on the plan for this weekend.”
The Blitzboks get this week’s event under way on Friday morning against Japan, before they face Ireland and Great Britain.
