Schools rugby fixtures: Grey host Paarl Gim in big weekend clash

Two of the country’s most impressive schoolboy teams this season, Paarl Gim and Grey College, will meet in Bloemfontein on the latter school’s main field on Saturday afternoon in the most attractive schools clash of the weekend.

Paarl Gim have been in devastating form this year, powering past all opponents, including beating King Edward VII School of Joburg 102-0.

Grey have picked up seven wins from seven outings, but have had to fight hard for some of their wins, including against Noordheuwel (24-22).

Grey ended Paarl Gim’s unbeaten run last year in the Cape, winning 29-27, with powerhouse centre Ethan Adams scoring two tries for Grey. The burly midfielder will go head to head this time with Gim’s Markus Muller, the highly-rated centre.

The match promises to be a thriller.

Some other matches to look out for in the Eastern Cape are those between Dale and Grey High, Pearson and Outeniqua and Queen’s against Selborne.

In KZN, Kearsney host Glenwood, while DHS entertain Northwood. Joburg’s Jeppe High School for Boys are away to Westville in Durban.

In the “NoordVaal” region, Garsfontein host Affies, KES are up against Parktown and Pretoria Boys High entertain Maritzburg College.

In the Western Cape, Bishops play host to Paul Roos, Oakdale welcome Framesby, and Rondebosch go up against Paarl Boys High.
