The Springboks beat Tonga 49-18 in their final match in Pool B at the Rugby World Cup in Marseille, France on Sunday night.
The Boks scored seven tries to Tonga’s three to go top of Pool B, with Ireland second and still to play Scotland (third), while Tonga and Romania will meet in their last game of group play.
The Boks led 21-8 at half-time.
The match saw the return to action of Handre Pollard, who enjoyed a solid outing, while Deon Fourie at hooker was also success.
It was a far from perfect performance by the Boks, who made numerous errors and missed a number of chances.
