Bok flyhalf Morne Steyn records first hole-in-one in Australia

The seasoned Bok flyhalf achieved the feat while on tour in Australia.

Bulls and Springbok flyhalf Morne Steyn is not just an ace goal-kicker, he’s also a top-notch golfer, and on Thursday he celebrated his first ever hole-in-one.

The 37-year-old Steyn, who is on tour with the Springboks in Australasia, shared his joy with his fans on his Instagram account.

Steyn said: “1st HOLE IN ONE!!! What a feeling.”

The seasoned No 10 achieved the feat on the par 3, 14th hole, that plays 162m from the back tees, at the Brookwater Golf and Country Club in Queensland.

Steyn, who played a key role in helping the Boks beat the British and Irish Lions in July and August, is currently fulfilling a supporting role in the national rugby team.

Handre Pollard is the first choice No 10 and despite having an off day with the boot against the Wallabies in a Rugby Championship Test in the Gold Coast last weekend, will again don the No 10 jersey on Saturday in the “return match”.

And while Elton Jantjies is seemingly the second choice flyhalf in the group, it is the talented and versatile Damian Willemse who is being preferred to sit on the Bok bench as No 10 back-up.

The Boks take on the Wallabies at 9.05am SA time on Saturday.
