If there’s one man who wants to jump with joy following Siya Kolisi’s appointment as Springbok captain, it’s national assistant coach Mzwandile Stick.
“If I wasn’t directly involved with the national team, I’d probably still be in tears sitting on my couch. But I need to keep my emotions in check,” he said.

Stick and Kolisi are Port Elizabeth residents by heart, having grown up in the neighbouring communities of Kwamagxaki and Zwide.
They met in Stellenbosch when Kolisi moved to the Western Province academy as an 18-year-old – Stick was with the Blitzboks – and the two immediately clicked.
