The Lions on Thursday named Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies as their captain for the Super Rugby warm-up clash against the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.
Jantjies will skipper the side in the absence of regular captain Warren Whiteley, who had his wisdom teeth removed earlier this week and failed to recover in time.
The Lions will also be without Bok midfield Lionel Mapoe.
He’s nursing a hamstring injury.
It’s both team’s last pre-season clash before the competition kicks off on February 25 with the Lions travelling to Bloemfontein to face the Cheetahs while the Stormers will host the Bulls.
