Morten Orum Madsen of Denmark may have won the SA Open Championship, but Hennie Otto's share of second has vaulted him to the top of the Chase to the Investec Cup standings.

Otto took 725 points with Jbe’ Kruger, who tied second with him, and the haul lifted him above Ulrich van den Berg, whose share of 22nd at the open kept him in second place in the points standings. The accumulation of points continued until the season climax in March 2014.
Qualification was determined through a points system which incorporated 21 regular-season Sunshine Tour events, beginning with the Zimbabwe Open in April and ending at the PGA Championship in March next year.
The points on offer varied based on the prize fund and size of the tournament. Co-sanctioned events with the European Tour, such as the SA Open Championship, offered a massive 10,000 points, 900 of which go to the winner.
After the success of the inaugural Chase to the Investec Cup series, the 2013-14 series would now feature a lucrative bonus pool of R10-million, doubled from 2013. The winner would pocket R3.5 million, with the second-placed finisher winning R950,000, and third R700,000.
Madsen’s victory earned him 900 points, 88 behind Otto. Van den Berg was on 906.13, Kruger on 902.17, and in fifth place was Merrick Bremner on 789.67, who tied 17th on Sunday.
