Busy months ahead for Netball SA

Netball SA hosts a series of top-draw internationals over the next three months, starting with the Tri-Nations between the Proteas, England and Trinidad & Tobago.

All three teams, ranked among the top 10 teams in the world, would compete at the at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University indoor sports centre from October 22 to 25.

South Africa were beaten 3-0 by a powerful England team in their tour to the UK last month.

The tournament would be followed by the Diamond Challenge, featuring the Proteas, Zambia and Zimbabwe, at the same venue from October 27 to October 30.

Both tournaments would be televised live on SuperSport and would also be broadcast in both the UK and New Zealand.

In November, the Proteas travel to New Zealand to battle with the world’s top ranked teams in the Fast 5 series.

The annual tournament was the equivalent of T20 in cricket or rugby’s Sevens with only five players on court at any time. Various rule changes were also applied to make the game faster and more entertaining.

The Proteas would be holding a training camp at the University of Pretoria’s High Performance Centre this weekend, October 11, 12 and 13 at which a squad of 12 will be selected for the Tri-Nations and Diamond Challenge and another selected for the Fast 5 tournament.
