Muller to do his talking in the ring

When Johnny Muller steps into the ring at Emperors Palace on Saturday night he will have a definite point to prove.

The 23-year-old is looking to make a statement when he meets Willbeforce Shihepo for the vacant WBC international silver light-heavyweight title as on the undercard of the “African Explosion” bill.

“I have seen Shihepo fight. He’s a good fighter and I respect him for that but I’ll do my talking in the ring. You’ll see who I am,” Muller said at yesterday’s pre-fight medical.

The belt was previously held by Ryno Liebenberg, also in action on the night against Joey Vegas, and Muller is eager to add it as an accessory to his South African light-heavyweight crown.

“Thanks to my good friend because he gave the belt up,” Muller, who met Liebenberg twice in the ring, added.

“So we’re going for it and I will win it,” he concluded.

It’s a sentiment shared by his trainer Harold Volbrecht who confirmed that his charge is improving with every outing into battle.

“We know Willbeforce is a good fighter. Johnny hasn’t had any easy fights. We prefer him to fight better fighters because he’s still a youngster.”
