The Junior ITF 1 Junior ITF 2 tournaments would be played from October 12-18 October and October 19-25 October respectively at the Maties Tennis Club, Coetzenburg Sport Grounds, at the University of Stellenbosch.
Both tournaments formed part of the International Tennis Federation’s Junior Circuit with junior tennis players from 25 countries participating. Players would earn all-important world ranking junior points from both events.
“These two tournaments are essential in giving much needed exposure of the regions’ top junior tennis players,” Boland Tennis Association’s president Danie Morkel said.
Although the entries had been dominated by South African players, the tournaments attracted an impressive international field with players participating from Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Lesotho, Mauritius, Namibia, Netherlands, Serbia, Turkey, USA and Zimbabwe.
There would be a boys and girls singles and doubles main draw event, with a singles qualifying tournament being played on the first two days of both tournaments.
