Humewood leaps up the rankings
Port Elizabeth's Humewood Golf Club, which has been under the management of Mark Wiltshire Golf since November 2012, received a major boost in the reputable Golf Digest Magazine's 2013 course ranking list.

Humewood slipped from 18 to 20 in 2012, but had climbed a credible five places to 15th on the latest ranking list.
For a club that was in the doldrums before the Humewood committee called on Wiltshire for management assistance, the rise was considered remarkable.
“Greenkeeper Ivor Peterson has taken the improvement of the course as his personal project and it is so good to see the course and his efforts being recognised,” Wiltshire said.
Competing against courses that were well-funded and more modern, it had been a long battle for the Humewood committee, who were working hard at ensuring the long-term viability of its famous club.
When Wiltshire took over the management of the club, his immediate focus was on the conditioning and playability of the course.
Winning over the members by providing a range of top class golf facilities was an important factor in his strategy. The results were evident as member rounds were on the increase and the club was receiving favourable comments from visitors on a regular basis.
