Hot tour at Zwartkops
This year's Midas Historic Tour visited the Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria on Saturday and, with more than 220 competitors in action, spectators who braved the cold were well rewarded.

Top billing on the programme belonged to two races for SKF Pre-1966 Legend Production Cars.
Franco Scribante (Remos Ford Mustang GT350) and Hennie Groenewald (Mercury Comet) fought tooth and nail for victory in both heats, trading paint on various occasions. In the end, Scribante took both wins, with Groenewald in close attendance.
In race one, Jonathan du Toit took his TAR Chev Nova to third place, while Dawie Oliver drove the Black Widow Chev Bel Air to the final podium position in race two.
Roy Prando (Alfa Giulia Sprint) won Class ZB from Alan Poulter (Volvo 122F) both times, while Marc Miller (Alfa Romeo Giulia) took both the Class X wins.
Both TAR Pre-1966 Le Mans Sports and GT races saw a high-speed train of cars, with little to choose between the front runners.
In the end Jonathan du Toit (Lola T70 Spyder) took both victories, followed by Ross Lazarus (Lazarus Ford GT40), Peter Lindenberg (Lazarus Ford Daytona), Terry Wilford (Ford Daytona) and Oliver Dalais (Ford GT40).
Trevor Tuck (Pharmashop Alfa Romeo Giulietta) won both of the day’s SKF Pre-1966 Little Giants races for Production and Sports Cars.
In the first, Frank Copping (Mobilectric Renault Dauphine) chased him to the line, ahead of Wayne Plit (Mini Cooper S).
The second time out, Ishmael Baloyi (TAR GSM Dart) took the runner-up spot, just beating Nick Parrott (MGB).
Colin Ellison (Chevron B19) won both races for Consolidated Auctioneers Pre-1984 Sports and GT Cars, Trans-Am & ISP cars.
In the first one, his task was simplified when Franco Scribante’s Remos Porsche RSR and Colin Clay’s Genie Lola T70 tangled, sending the Lola into a sand trap and instant retirement.
Dino Scribante (Porsche 911 RSR) and a recovered Franco Scribante took the second and third places, respectively.
Colin Clay returned for race two, finishing second behind Ellison and ahead of Dino Scribante.
The Investchem Formula Ford Kent races produced close competition and varied results.
Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale) won the opening heat from Matthys Strydom (Sage Talon) and Ben van der Westhuizen (Delta Rubber Royale).
Graham Hepburn (Suburban Body Ray), won the next time, leading home Strydom and Jeff Gable (Taylon Van Diemen).
Klippies Krige (Lotus Replica 7) took the overall Sabat Lotus Challenge Class A victory.
Etienne Strydom (Axishouse Toyota Birkin), Sean Allen (Toyota Birkin) and André du Plessis (Leet Locost Rocam) took the victories in Classes B, C and L respectively.
Willie Hepburn won Class B of the Marlboro Crane Hire Historic Saloon car category in his Ford Capri V8.
Anton Raaths (Actor Pharma Mazda Coupe) took Class C, Pierre de Waal (Alfa GTA) Class D and Steve Truter (Ford Escort) Class E.
Racing separately, Steven Colloty (Datsun SSS), Harry Lombard (VW Beetle) and Rey Cornelissen (Alfa 97V) won Classes F, G and H respectively.
The Sabela Marque Cars saw Paul Manegold (Alfa Giulietta) emerge as overall winner, leading home John Martin (DKW F11 Junior) and Rey Cornelissen (Alfa Romeo GTV).
