Vous Et Var well weighted to win

Vous Et Var and Villa Del Largo could make for a good Swinger-Exacta bet.

A useful bunch of sprinters renew rivalry today in the Speedsters Stakes (Non-Black Type) at Fairview and if their last encounter is anything to go by an exciting finish is anticipated in this 1000m contest.

Vous Et Var was beaten just 0.50 lengths into second by Tevez in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1200m last time out and Villa Del Largo wasn’t disgraced, merely 0.10 lengths further back in third. Vous Et Var and Villa Del Largo could make for a good Swinger-Exacta bet.

Looking at the weights Alan Greeff-trained Vous Et Var makes the most appeal. He has sparked impressive improvement over his last two starts at Fairview. He shouldered 4kg less than Villa Del Largo last time out and will now carry an astonishing 9.5kg less than the latter, which is a massive advantage.

Vous Et Var made good improvement in his last start and appears to be on the up. The drop to 1000m could also be in his favour.

Greg Cheyne rode this gelding to victory one run back and will be looking to maintain a 100% strike rate aboard the five-year-old. Greeff’s charge also holds all of Tar Heel, Zevenastic and Pacific Spirit on form, having run well ahead of them last time.

Villa Del Largo from the Justin Snaith yard has been running with the best of them and has missed the money just once in his last 15 starts. That is unlikely to change today although this eight-year-old will have a tough task at the weights, carrying a hefty 64kg.

This son of Jallad is no stranger to shouldering big weights as he has carried 62kg in his last two outings and wasn’t disgraced when running very close on both occasions.

Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in Race 7, the Jockey Club Stakes (Listed) over 2000m. He saddles a consistent sort in Nima. She has run twice at the course for a win and a second. She also enjoys 2000m and from No 7 draw will have a big say.

Her main threat could be Crackpot. This Judpot six-year-old had the widest draw to overcome last time staying on well for third over 2400m.
