Vale Do Sol to shine at Meydan

Bahrain trainer Fawzi Nass has begun the year with a bang, sad-dling three winners.

And tomorrow Vale Do Sol, trained by Nass, makes plenty of appeal in the Meydan feature, Race 5.

He caught the eye on his latest outing, staying on nicely from the rear to finish four lengths behind Muqaatil.

That was a slightly unlucky effort and this looks a good opportunity to make amends, despite obvious concerns of his double-digit draw.

Doug Watson, the season’s leading trainer at Meydan with an impressive 16 wins, is mob-hand-ed with four runners and the former John Gosden inmate Pouvoir Magique, an expensive purchase at September’s Racing in Dubai Sale, boasts the strongest credentials of the quartet.

On his first start for Watson, he made an encouraging start to his UAE debut for his new connections, finishing fourth behind the reopposing Azmaam in a handicap, over 200m shorter.

He should strip fitter for the race, his first since the beginning of July last year, and clearly war-rants respect.

Mike de Kock’s Conclusion, formerly trained by Aidan O’Brien, failed to fire on his UAE debut last month, trailing in a poor 10th of 12, and makes little appeal.
