This Australian-bred colt was an impressive winner on debut over this course and distance. He may not have been a wide margin winner but the way this Street Cry juvenile quickened was eye-catching. The form of the race has held up with the third place runner Black Tractor winning easily.
It is also noteworthy that stable companion The Stone Thrower (half-brother to Variety Club) was a good winner on the same day Macduff won and also had jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe aboard. Suggesting Macduff is Fayd’Herbe’s choice although that cannot be certain as stable companion Tar Heel also has ability and gets the services of Anton Marcus. If Macduff does not live up to promise of his first win then it looks a dangerous affair as many of the runners have good recent form.
Debut winners Captain Chaos, Mr Bond, Professor Brian and Russian Speed have all hinted at ability and horses like Ernie, Western Storm and Mathematician are unexposed types. Champery, a race later in the fillies equivalent, the Perfect Promise Sprint (Listed) has been impressive to date and will take a power of beating.
The daughter of promising new sire Querari was full of running in both her wins to date over 1000m and could be even better over this extended 1200m trip. My Emblem is 2kg better off for a 2.25 length drubbing last time out and gets the services of Anton Marcus so has to be respected.
Just Felicity and Leylani are improving are not without a shout of running well.
