Time to ride the Internet Jet

Like so many races of this nature there is little to choose between many of the runners and there are often conflicting form lines. In the end one needs to select the form line that looks to be not only strongest, but most consistent.

In the case of Internet Jet that form line looks to be the Grade 3 Final Fling Stakes, which was eventually run three weeks late after two previous meetings were called off due to inclement weather. Internet Jet was not well weighted under the race conditions and in fact, had to meet 13-10 favourite Jet Supreme at level weights. In spite of going off at 20-1, this Mike Bass-trained runner ran on strongly to end up in fourth place, beaten just 2.80 lengths. On that performance Internet Jet has the beating of Petty Officer, Nonki Poo and Black Kitten.

She also backed up her penultimate run, also over 1800m at the course, in which she finished a 1.75-length second behind Jet Snow.

Internet Jet has been heavily penalised for those two runs and despite not winning either, her merit rating has increased from 67 to a mark of 79. However, she remarkably still looks to be in a winning position as long as she can reproduce the form of her last race.

One also has to like the chances of lightly weighted Beulah. This six-year-old mare only joined the Paddy Kruyer stable in April this year following a lengthy layoff but has run consistently well in her last few starts.

For those who enjoy following the numbers, Beulah finished fourth three runs back, then third and then second – and should the progression continue it means she will win this event.

She also gets the benefit of a 2.5kg claim courtesy of apprentice Xavier Carstens and will carry just 50kg.
