Three bankers at Greyville

If the form works out well at Greyville tonight one could add a few kilos to the Christmas turkey and ensure a more festive season.

There looks to be three possible bankers to the Pick 6 which means one can either load the other legs or take a smaller Pick 6 a few times.

Charles Laird seems to have a top-class performer in Exit Here. All his runs have been at Greyville – on both turf and Polytrack – and this son of Jay Peg has set up a record of four wins and two second places from his six starts.

On debut he finished a 0.75-length second behind King’s Knight and followed that up with a 3.25-length second behind Rabada in the Listed Gatecrasher over 1400m. After that Laird made two changes. He fitted blinkers and engaged Anton Marcus and since then his charge has reeled off four successive victories. He has not looked in danger in any of his runs and it will be hard to stop Exit Here from making it five wins in a row in Race 4, a MR 94 Handicap over 1400m on the Polytrack.

The Polytrack also seems to have worked wonders for Gavin van Zyl-trained Work Ethic. She spent the winter season in Joburg where she placed in all three starts but on her return to KwaZulu-Natal she was tried over 2000m on the Polytrack.

She turned the race into a procession, coming home 10.75 lengths clear of Racey J in an excellent time and should win Race 6, a Graduation Plate over 2000m.

The final banker comes in Race 8 where Marcus rides Winter’s Heir for Garth Puller. They have gone close but this is a weaker field and they should get it right this time.
