Put All The Bids on Strauss

It is a MR 64 Handicap over 1600m and we have a few strong front-runners who will ensure a decent pace.

This may set it up for late-finisher Richard Strauss.

However, trainer Mike Stewart usually does well when raiding the Eastern Cape and it may pay to be with Robertson.

All The Bids is another runner to consider as he makes his debut for the Renate du Plessis yard and runs off a reduced turf merit rating.

Australian import Knockout Johny has changed yards and will be appearing for trainer Gavin Smith and it could be a winning one. The five-year-old has not won in 15 starts but could prove too good for some very modest opposition in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 2200m.

The front-running Rebel House is always one to consider and he could make all the running in Race 3, a MR 72 Handicap over 1200m.

This track and trip has proven ideal for him in the past having won twice over it.

With the scratching of Oriental Tiger in Race 4, Plain Of Wisdom looks to have the race to himself.

He ran well above his rating when runner-up to Clifton Surf last month and, before Oriental Tiger’s withdrawal, appeared the only serious threat.

Galao looked a bit unlucky not to have finished closer to the winner last time out and Bling has cracked pole position on the Justin Snaith-trained runner in Race 5, a Mr 87 Divided Handicap over 1900m.

Inca Silver may have just needed his last run when fourth behind Divine Invitation and is an each-way possibility in Race 6, a MR 69 Handicap over 1900m.
