The theme, a Rare Blend, seems to have struck a chord with creative South Africans at the Kenilworth racecourse in Cape Town today.
From colourful hats adorned with flowers, or tradisional African headdresses mixed with European-styles straight off a catwalk, fashion is the real winner.
Jehan Bhikoo and Ghochen Smidt Von Wulish won the Best Dressed couple this afternoon. Their paper and cloth creation in blue and white won them R20000 worth of prizes. They were named the best dressed by Lee-Anne Williams.
Roxy Louw is one of the celebrities also embracing the Rare Blend theme. She’s wearing a flowing salmon dress, with a very special piece of jewellery.
“It’s a piece of fence from Robben Island. It’s a broken past used to create something beautiful,” she says.
Tamara Dey is showing off her curves today in a tight hot pink gown with a plunging neckline. The dress was designed by Joburg-based designers Quitera & George.
Jason Goliath is looking suave in a grey formal suit by Mr SlimFit. He seems to be a fan of the brand, even his tie sports the Mr SlimFit logo.
The biggest blend however was the shared excitement this afternoon when Smart Call won the 2016 J&B Met.
