Nyangan can be more than that

The Silvano filly was slow away on debut but was not disgraced when third to Star Express (runs in this) over 1200m at Kenilworth in June.

Just over three weeks later the three-year-old filly came with a strong late run to collar subsequent winner Sun At Midnight and win by 0.50 lengths.

Nyangan has been rested 88 days since, has a wide draw to overcome and jockey Karl Neisius has been replaced by Grant Behr.

It is also possible that being by Silvano it would suggest even this 1400m might be on the short side of ideal for Nyangan.

The opposition is modest but obviously star Academy has to be respected as she beat Nyangan by 2.50 lengths and is now 1.5kg better off.

Just Rock ‘N Roll and Dazzling dancer are both also in with a chance of winning.

Race 1 sees a clash between some well-bred first-timers and the Australian-bred Morethanthat who put up a very promising debut.

Morethanthat was clearly in need of her debut and will be winning a race sooner rather than later.

Another Australian-bred filly, Midnight Spy makes her debut for the Kannemeyer yard and the Dynasty filly Qing will represent the bang-in-form Justin Snaith yard.

Two improving three-year-olds Lord Marshal and Baritone are set to clash in Race 6, a MR Divided Handicap over 1300m.

Lord Marshal showed he is a decent colt by finishing runner-up in the respected Langerman at Kenilworth in June.

Baritone was caught too far back on his debut and despite running home strongly he could only manage fourth place.

He then won his next two races with strong late runs.

Clearly this Trippi colt is decent and looking for further than this 1300m but has shown he will be doing his best work at the finish.
