Mungerto come out firing

Following jockey Ryan Munger today at Flamingo Park could be rewarding as he will be aboard quite a few strong contenders on the nine-event card.

He should be on the mark in Race 1 when partnering Stephanie Miller-trained Royal Delight in a 1000m Maiden Plate.

This three-year-old showed smart improvement over this distance in his last two runs, especially last time when a 0.50-length second out of 12.

The gelding could be followed home by Kissmebackfoot, Prince Ponti and Value At Risk.

Watch out for Munger in Race 3 when teamed up with Miller’s seven-time winner Bollemakiesie in a 1300m MR 77 Handicap.

Making most appeal of the remainder are Quantity, What Else and Colt Front.

The same combination is likely to strike with Ming Tang in Race 4, a 1600m Maiden Plate.

This former Gauteng colt comes off an inspiring third in his first outing for Miller with Munger up.

With the confidence derived from that run and fitted with blinkers again the three-year-old should be in the winner’s enclosure.

His principal rivals are Wine Dark Sea, Great Success, Jack Of All Trades and Master Of Melody.

Munger’s best ride of the day could be Dennis Cason-trained three-time winner Brookie who contests Race 5, a 1600m MR 66 Handicap.

This six-year-old has fared well this season in five outings – winning smartly over 1600m and placed thereafter.

His last run when up in class was a stout effort in a MR 71 Handicap over 1600m as he ran on strongly and was a game neck second to Bollemakiesie (received 0.5kg).Next best are Royal Stag, For Ever, Rockefeller, Just As Frisky and Koncealed.
