Mine the ‘Rock’ in Kimberley

We have become used to watching start-to-finish winners at Flamingo Park and there might be more of the same with Kent Rock in Race 9 today.

The Right Approach colt was full of running when winning over 1400m on this course last week.

That was both his first run for trainer Stephanie Miller and his first taste of the sand track.

Jockey Hennie Greyling was able to get over from a bad draw and Kent Rock looked the likely winner from a long way out.

It will be slightly easier for his new rider, Gunter Wrogemann, as the four-year-old jumps from stall No 2 this time, but it remains to be seen whether Wrogemann will use the same tactics.

Stable companion Country Gent, to be ridden by Greyling, has made really good improvement and could be a danger. But a wide draw counts against him.

There are some possible winning bets early on the card.

A P Dancer (Race 1) is clearly better than her last start and reverts to the track and trip where she ran a promising second to Rippit Whippet. The opposition here is modest and the filly could prove too good.

Act Away (Race 2) showed good improvement in her new surroundings with a runner-up berth behind Miss Lecture (runs in Race 5 ) last time out and will not have to do too much to beat some weak rivals.
