Meadows beckon at Fairview

A very tricky MR 94 Handicap over 1300m, Race 6 on the Polytrack tops the Fairview card today and one needs to look for some value in the race.

That could lie with the Justin Snaith-trained Land Of Meadows who has built up a reasonable record of six runs, two wins and one place over the course and distance. The six-year-old son of Jet Master has been in the Eastern Cape for quite a while and has taken to the Polytrack. Overall he has raced 16 times on the course for five wins and six places but he could well have soundness issues as he is taking quite a big break between races.

He has only raced four times since June last year but with the exception of that June run in which he ran a shocker, Land Of Meadows has been quite consistent. He seems to race quite well when fresh and he will have the services of Karl Zechner who has a good record at the track.

Trainer Tara Laing has a strong hand with three runners and as a rule one would follow the horse to be ridden by Raymond Danielson as he is the No 1 choice. However, he cannot ride at 52.5kg these days so Muzi Yeni, who rides Rebel House could be on the right one.

He has won four races on the Polytrack and these have been over 1200m and 1300m. He is nicely drawn at No 4 and will go close off that light weight.

Crescendo beat Rebel House last time by 0.75 lengths and is now 1kg worse off which should bring them close together. Ryan Munger rides.
