Light The Lights to shine brightly at Durbanville

Light The Lights ran fifth and was by no means disgraced as it was the Grade 1 Premier Champion Stakes.

This Western Winter colt returns to the Western Cape at Durbanville today and looks the likely winner of Race 3, a Novice Plate over 1600m.

Light The Lights is well drawn in stall No 3 and can be expected to make all on a course which suits his front-running style for jockey Greg Cheyne.

Man From Milan has shown he will not die a one time winner and probably needed his last start when fifth to Readytogorightnow at Kenilworth earlier this month. This Antonius Pius colt has been looking for some extra ground and although he may lack the class of Light The Lights he cannot be lightly dismissed with fitness in his favour.

Dynamic returns from a lengthy 592-day break which saw him face the unkindest cut of all. This Justin Snaith trained five-year-old ran a gallant second beaten just 0.40 lengths behind Capetown Noir in the Cape Derby so clearly is a class animal who will come on from this. Jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe has been booked for the ride so keep an eye on the betting.

Solid Speed is another who was rested and gelded after his last start which saw a gallant maiden win. Clearly Solid Speed has ability and will be in the shake-up.

Trainer Neil Bruss has his yard in fine fettle and although Brave Leader has decent enough form it will be surprising if he can win this.
