Marwing saddles three runners in Bilateral, Lertasha and Mamsita and it is not impossible to conceive that the three of them could complete the Trifecta. There is no doubt Bilateral is the class runner of the three. She has been running well in feature events and last week finished a 4.25-length fifth behind Bold Inspiration over this course and distance.
She now drops against a weaker field of her own sex and the daughter of Lateral has to be a significant runner.
However, there was a lot to like about the manner in which Lertasha won last time over 1600m at Scottsville to notch up her fourth victory. She went very quickly in a race over 1400m on the Polytrack on Durban July day but still managed to finish fourth, beaten 3.55 lengths by Resolution.
Ian Sturgeon, who won on her last time is back in the irons and as he gets 3.5kg from Bilateral Lertasha could be the pick of the trio.
Mamasita fought down to the wire when finishing a 0.10-length third behind Worship Dancer in a thrilling finish over 2000m at this course and although she has yet to prove herself in this level of company she has a record of two wins and two places from four runs on this track.
The horse best poised to upset the Marwing whitewash could be Missmasala from the Sean Tarry yard who will be ridden by Anthony Delpech.
